WEST AKRON — Leah’s Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, all made from scratch, according to owners Leah and Randy Francis.

The diner is located at 1867 W. Market St. in the Fairway Shopping Center behind Acme Fresh Market No. 1. Leah Francis said the building was recently purchased by Summit County Public Health and many tenants are moving, but the diner is staying to continue serving customers in the area.

“All our food is handmade, even our peanut brittle and caramel corn,” she said.

Francis added that breakfast is available weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Menu items include egg dishes such as omelets and fried egg sandwiches, and sides such as hash browns, bacon, ham and sausage links. Also on the menu are pancakes, waffles, French toast and the “big breakfast,” which includes pancakes, two eggs and bacon, ham or sausage. Bagels and scones also are available.

Lunch specials are served beginning at 11 a.m. and include a choice of two fresh homemade soups, which vary daily, and a sandwich, such as the philly steak, reuben and chicken dijon, all available on white, wheat or rye bread, as well as various hamburgers, a hoagie, a turkey bacon wrap and a club sandwich.

Francis added that one of the most popular lunch specials includes a bowl of soup and a grilled three-cheese sandwich for $5.

Leah’s Kitchen also serves dinners, with new specials offered every Wednesday. On May 22, the special will be barbecue ribs with baked beans and macaroni and cheese. On May 29, the special will be stuffed green peppers and mashed potatoes. A casserole dinner is often available on Fridays. Dinner specials are advertised regularly in the West Side Leader, she said.

Leah’s Kitchen also has homemade desserts, with cheesecake and carrot cake available daily, along with items such as chocolate mouse, cupcakes and pies.

Customers can dine inside, outside and also pre-order for carry out. Leah’s Kitchen is closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Leah’s Kitchen also can cater for graduations, rehearsal dinners and weddings, anniversaries and birthdays, offices, and makes custom cakes for any occasion. Francis added that catering services are customized for customer needs, and services can include cooking and serving in a home or office.
