MERRIMAN VALLEY — Michael’s A.M. celebrated its 20th anniversary this year and continues to serve customer favorites for breakfast and lunch.

The restaurant, located at 1562 Akron-Peninsula Road in Suite 120, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. but  is closed on some holidays, including today, July 4.

“We offer comfortable seating, friendly table service and good home cooking,” said owner Michael Goodridge. “We also have daily breakfast and lunch specials.”

The breakfast menu includes what Goodridge said his customers tell him are “the best eggs benedict in town,” as well as a large selection of other egg dishes such as omelettes, and waffles and pancakes. Crab cake or lobster benedict also is available, and quiches are made fresh daily and served with fresh fruit. Oatmeal, bagels and croissants also may be ordered for breakfast.

The regular breakfast menu is available until 2 p.m.

The breakfast specials are offered weekdays from 7 to 10 a.m. for $4.19. The specials include a choice of two eggs, hash browns and toast, an American cheese omelet with toast, or two pancakes or french toast with bacon, with the french toast made from ciabatta bread.

“These specials are a great bang for your buck,” said Goodridge. “We try to gear our menu to offer the best quality for the money.”

Choices for lunch include homemade soups, chili, wraps, gyros, burgers and salads.

Goodridge said he also offers specials for lunch, and they are a nice change for those who get tired of “brown bagging.”

“We offer a lunch for under $6 seven days a week,” said Goodridge. “We offer a choice of soup made fresh daily and a half sandwich.”

Sandwiches are made with a choice of breads, kaiser bun, croissant or flat bread.

Goodridge also said service is an important part of business at Michael’s A.M.

“Our chefs do a great job making meals, and our help is great,” he said. “We have a server that has been with us since 1992. We bring our customers a hot plate of food and brew fresh ice tea daily.”

Michael’s A.M. does not accept credit or debit cards, only cash or personal checks. Goodridge explained that this policy allows servers to get their tips daily, and he does not have to charge customers processing fees on the use of credit cards.

Gift certificates are available, and reservations are not accepted.
