The Office Bistro celebrating Great Lakes anniversary

NORTH AKRON — The Office Bistro will present the Great Lakes Brewing 25th Anniversary BBQ to celebrate 25 years of brewing excellence by Great Lakes Brewing Co. July 21 at 3 p.m. at its Akron location, 778 N. Main St.

According to event officials, chef J.R. Hobbs will offer an extensive barbecue menu featuring smoked and slow-roasted favorites such as beef brisket, ribs and paella, as well as a gourmet hamburger bar, beer can chicken and more.

In addition, the Great Lakes Brewing Co. will be on hand with several traditional and specialty beers, such as Dortmunder Gold, The Wright Pils and Lake Erie Monster, as well as the Silver and Gold 25th Anniversary and the Deschutes imperial smoked porter.

Charlie and the Poor Boys and other Akron favorites will perform.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at www.theofficebistro.com or at either of the restaurant’s locations. The Office Bistro also has a site at 1846 Front St. in Cuyahoga Falls.

New East of Chicago Pizza opening in West Akron

WEST AKRON — Matt and Toni Craig, of Akron, will open a new East of Chicago West Akron pizza shop July 22 at 1650 W. Market St., Suite 20, in the Wallhaven Building.

“We are so excited to bring East of Chicago pizza to Akron,” said owner/operator Matt Craig. “My wife and I attended college here, we live here and we chose to start our family here. What better place to also start our business than in the city we know and love?”

The new pizza shop will offer delivery and carryout for lunch and dinner daily. The shop will deliver to Downtown Akron, The University of Akron, West Akron, Fairlawn and the Merriman Valley.

East of Chicago offers a wide variety of pizzas, subs and wings to choose from, according to company officials. Toni Craig said the shop can cater business meetings and special events and will work with local nonprofits to help them raise money.

East of Chicago will open July 22 at 11 a.m. for lunch, and a grand opening will follow in August.

The shop hours will be Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m. The shop can be reached at 234-208-9230.
