United Way names James Merklin 2013 campaign chair
Each year, the volunteer campaign chair recruits new and returning cabinet members, leads a number of special events for the campaign and works to plan and implement the fundraising effort.
“The opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the impressive men and women who have served in this role before me is truly an honor,” Merklin stated in a press release.
Merklin, of Copley, joined Bober Markey Fedorovich in 1997 and was elected partner in 2003. He is in charge of the firm’s assurance and advisory services. He is the second certified public accountant to serve as campaign chair in the organization’s 95-year history.
United Way of Summit County’s Board of Directors recently approved a $12.3 million goal for this year. This marks a $500,000 increase over the 2012 record-setting total.
