“We have grown into something that is no longer just a hobby, but a full-blown business,” said Thewlis. “Our personal service is like no other. We enjoy our customers, and some have become like family.”
Beadtini Boutique sells beads and tools to create jewelry, as well as custom-made jewelry. It also offers a variety of classes.
Thewlis said the shop has a large selection of beads, including sterling silver, brass, copper, Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, semiprecious stones, glass beads and seed beads. In addition, leather and other materials, as well as tools to make jewelry, are sold. Unique jewelry is also sold at the store.
“We have all the supplies you need in our bead store, and if we don’t have it, we will try to find it for you,” said Thewlis.
The shop offers a variety of classes, with guest instructors invited to teach specialty classes.
“We teach over 60 different jewelry design classes, from the basics to creating pieces of jewelry art,” said Thewlis. “We stamp, hammer and torch metal. We etch and rivet copper. We teach the art of glass beadmaking, called lampworking. Our specialty, though, really is the basics. There really is a technique to making jewelry, and we believe that working with an instructor and being able to ask questions is better then looking in a book or learning online.”
On Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Beadtini Boutique will host Make Mom a Gift Day, when children can create a necklace, earrings, bracelet or pin for a mother, grandmother, aunt or teacher. The class is free, and the only cost is for the beads used.
Beadtini Boutique also offers activities for special events such as birthday parties, Girl Scout outings, bridal showers, bachelorette parties and more, when a project can be chosen to make. Thewlis said she can go out on location to run a class or activity.
She added classes make a great gift for the holidays, and the store also sells gift cards.
The shop also organizes Sponsor Bingo for a Cure in April in Wadsworth, and does crafts with children at Camp Quality of Ohio in the summer.
Business hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
