Medina shops participating in Small Business Saturday
MEDINA — Locally owned and operated shops in the Historic District of Medina will participate in Small Business Saturday Nov. 30. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., many shops on and around the Square will be open for shopping.
“Small Business Saturday started out as a marketing campaign for a huge credit card company, but then it took on a life of its own,” said Matt Wiederhold, Main Street Medina executive director. “The name — Small Business Saturday — has a ring to it, and people began to really think about how important it is to shop locally owned and operated stores and restaurants. When you spend your paycheck locally, anywhere from 20 to 40 percent more stays in the local economy, rather than being sent to corporate headquarters or to pay franchise fees. We hear so many people say that they just love the Square and how quaint the city feels. What we’re asking is that residents and visitors make a conscious decision to support Medina-based businesses.”
The Medina Square and historic district feature free, on-street parking and parking in lots adjacent to the district.
