A total of $6,848 was raised that day for the foundation, which funds independent breast cancer research, according to Akron Auto Auction officials. Shown above is a vehicle that was auctioned off.
Akron Auto Auction officials said Auto Central and Ganley Subaru East donated vehicles for the auction, and Automart, Carport, Bill Doraty Kia, Columbiana Ford, Don Sitts Auto Sales, Ganley Auto Stores Cleveland, Hyundai of Bedford, Indian Lake Motors, KC Motor Co., Loudon Motors Ford, Loudon Motors, Medina Auto Mall, Patriot Motors, Richland Motors, Rick Bayus Motors, Summit Scion, Warren Toyota and White’s Maibach Ford donated money with every vehicle they sold.
Akron Auto Auction officials bought lunch from local food trucks for anyone who made a donation of $25 or more.
“I think so many people drive by on [state] Route 224 and think Akron Auto Auction is just that dealer auction and think all we do is sell vehicles, but we’re working hard not only to remarket and sell vehicles, but to really give back to the community,” said Heather Marks, marketing manager. “In October, we raised funds for Save the Ta Tas, in November we are taking donations for the Akron-Canton [Regional] Foodbank, and in December we will be a drop-off location for Toys for Tots.” Akron Auto Auction is located at 2471 Ley Drive.
