Women’s Network accepting new members
FAIRLAWN — Women’s Network of Northeast Ohio invites interested women professionals to its “New Year, New Network” Luncheon Jan. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fairlawn Country Club.
Attendees will learn more about Women’s Network and its vision for providing quality leadership development for women professionals. New programming developed by Women’s Network includes the 2014 Authentic Leadership workshop series, THRIVE! Mentoring Program and Leadership Through Community Service Initiative. Signature events of Women’s Network also will be presented, such as the Women of Achievement Awards Luncheon and the Judith Resnik Scholarship Fundraiser.

Akron/Summit CVB announces recipients of grants
DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Akron/Summit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has announced the recipients of its inaugural “Partnerships in Motion — Destination Development Grant Program.”
The program is designed to assist qualifying tourism entities with efforts to increase tourism in Summit County, including projects that increase the tourism market share and grow the tourism industry. The goals of the program include: increase overnight stays in Akron/Summit County; promote a positive image and increase visibility of Akron/Summit County attractions; increase expenditures by visitors to Akron/Summit County; and provide programs and activities beneficial to attracting additional tourists.
Grantees include: Actors’ Summit, $1,500; Akron Art Museum, $5,000; Akron Civic Theatre, $4,950; Akron Film+Pixel, $3,500; Akron Marathon, $2,500; FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby, $2,500; Downtown Akron Partnership, $2,500; Destination Hudson, $2,500; Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, $3,287; Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition, $1,000; Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, $5,000; Bridgestone Invitational, $4,275; Stonehedge Entertainment, $1,500; Summit County Historical Society, $4,950; Weathervane Community Playhouse, $2,350; and Hale Farm and Village, $2,000.
