United Disability Services elects nine new board members

DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Board of Directors of United Disability Services (UDS) recently elected the following nine new members whose terms will expire at the end of 2016:

Eve Belfance, of Northwest Akron, currently serves as a judge on the Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals. Belfance earned her bachelor’s degree from Yale University and her juris doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Steven Bordenkircher, of Fairlawn, is senior legal counsel for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and was previously employed as an associate with Squire, Sanders and Dempsey. He has a sister who has a developmental disability and he has been involved with CYO Camp Christopher and community respite. Bordenkircher earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Notre Dame and his juris doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Shon Christy, of Stow, is the vice president of social media for Proximity Marketing. Christy recently launched Beckett’s Buddies, a fundraising group to support those with Down syndrome in honor of his 3-year-old son. Christy earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The University of Akron (UA).

Aaron Kurchev, of Atwater, is product manager of dispensing systems at GOJO Industries. Kurchev earned both his bachelor of science and master of business administration degrees from UA.

Tamela Lee, of West Akron, is a Summit County Council member representing District 5, where she serves as chair of the Rules Committee and vice-chair of Health and Human Services Committee. She is also the owner/operator of Henderson Management and Counseling. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and public health from the University of Toledo and a master’s degree in health care administration from Cleveland State University.

Amanda Leffler, of West Akron, is an attorney with Brouse McDowell. Leffler received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo and her juris doctor degree from UA.

Bill Lowery, of Cleveland, is currently a Realtor for Stouffer Realty Inc. in Akron. Lowery attended The Ohio State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Scott Read, of West Akron, is president of Dunholt Medical LLC. He received a bachelor’s degree from UA and his juris doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Claire Wilson, of Stow, is employed as nursing director with Akron General Medical Center. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Malone University and her master’s degree in nursing-nurse practitioner from Kent State University.
