Akron General Health and Wellness Innovations new name for subsidiary
AKRON — Akron General Health and Wellness Innovations is the new name of the Akron General Health System subsidiary overseeing the intellectual property, design and operation of wellness centers now in development around the country.
“Akron General Health and Wellness Innovations is a name that accurately captures the essence of what we do: develop outstanding and innovative outpatient, community-based, medical fitness facilities that bring together a range of clinical outpatient services with exercise and retail-oriented health services, all in an effort to improve the health of the community,” said Doug Ribley, senior vice president for wellness for Akron General Health System, in a press release. “At our comprehensive health and wellness centers, the complete outpatient continuum of care is offered, including diagnostic testing, treatment and rehabilitative services, all designed to compliment (sic) a patients’ efforts leading to improved health.”
In a move designed to strengthen client services and further build upon its national reputation, Akron General Health and Wellness Innovations has signed a memorandum of understanding agreement with The Boldt Co., of Wisconsin, to collaborate on projects. Boldt will provide real estate development services, construction and finance capital. This collaboration with Boldt creates a synergy and provides an essential project continuum from conceptualization, through construction and operation management, according to Akron General officials.
Akron General Health and Wellness Innovations is currently working with many clients on projects from coast-to-coast, according to Akron General officials.
Summit of Sustainability Awards set for Oct. 23
DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Summit of Sustainability Awards Breakfast will take place Oct. 23 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at The University of Akron’s Quaker Station, 135 S. Broadway St.
This is the third year for the countywide awards program that showcases the best examples of commercial energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation and green purchasing.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased through www.SummitOfSustainability.org.
The keynote speaker will be Graham Russell, a sustainable business professional and sustainability consultant and founder of TrupointAdvisors. He brings 25 years of CEO experience in helping small to mid-sized companies in the environmental services and transportation industries understand how a strategy based on the principles of sustainability drives innovation, competitive advantage, job creation and improved financial performance.
Russell currently directs a master of business administration course in sustainable business at the University of Colorado, Denver, Business School, and chairs the School’s Managing for Sustainability Advisory Council. He is a writer and speaker on the subject of the benefits of sustainability-based strategies and co-author of “A Simple Path to Sustainability — Green Business Strategies for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses.” He is a board member of the International Society for Sustainability Professionals.

The founding members of the awards program are the City of Akron, Summit County, Keep Akron Beautiful, Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce and ReWorks.
