According to The Daily Meal (www.thedailymeal.com), The West Side Bakery was chosen as the best wedding cake bakery in Ohio.
“Though capable of creating unique and contemporary confections, their artistry really lies in their elegant, classic cakes,” according to the site. “Since 1995, this bakery has earned several accolades on the local and national level. Chocolate cake lovers should pay extra attention to this bakery, as they happen to be the proud winners of Akron’s Best Bakery, Best Dessert, and Best Chocolate Cake honors!”

According to the site, the list was determined via the Internet, looking “for highly rated bakeries with long lists of satisfied clientele, taking the top contenders from each state into a final list for consideration.” After narrowing down the bakeries, site officials scrutinized variety and creativity, social media interaction, and overall quality and value.
West Side Bakery President and owner Barbara Talevich said, “We were so excited to see that we were chosen as the best wedding cake bakery in Ohio. We have always considered our chefs and cake designers to be some of the best in the industry and are so honored and grateful that they have been recognized for their outstanding abilities and talents.”

Charter One changing name to Citizens Bank in 2015
CLEVELAND — Citizens Financial Group Inc.’s Charter One branches in Ohio will be rebranded as Citizens Bank next year as part of a strategy to unify all of its brands, according to company officials.
This change, also scheduled for Citizens’ Charter One branches in Michigan, will result in a uniform Citizens Bank presence across the company’s 11-state retail footprint by mid-2015, according to company officials. Citizens already uses the Citizens Bank brand in the other nine states where it has branches.
“The name Citizens has been a part of our heritage and culture as a company since 1871. We want to leverage this strong brand to provide a consistent, high-quality banking experience to all of our customers, wherever we do business,” said Bruce Van Saun, Citizens Financial Group chairman and CEO, in a press release.
According to Van Saun, all of the products and services will remain in place.
Business lines beyond retail banking also will receive new brands anchored in the Citizens name. The Commercial Banking division is slated to transition from RBS Citizens to Citizens Commercial Banking later this year. Select consumer lending businesses serving customers outside the Citizens retail footprint will be branded Citizens One.
