HUDSON — Creative Painters, located at 1521 Georgetown Road in Suite 201, is a 29-year-old business doing work for customers from Canton to Cleveland.

Company owner Michael Gentile said the company offers interior and exterior painting of homes and businesses. In addition to painting ceilings and walls, the business will paint basements, garages, trim and cabinets, and remove wallpaper. Exterior work includes painting aluminum and vinyl structures and shutters, and the company also will stain decks.

Gentile said most jobs begin with a proper cleaning, caulking and minor repairs needed prior to painting. He added he has worked on a wide range of jobs and will travel as far as Toledo and Pittsburgh for large projects.

“No job is too big or too small,” said Gentile.

Gentile suggested customers should always use a quality paint to ensure satisfaction on any job. He also said paint accounts for 15 percent of the job while the labor is 85 percent, and that means customers should take the time to find a painter who can do a good job.

“Painters are not all the same, and there are no regulations for painters to have insurance or a license like there are for other tradesmen, such as carpenters and plumbers,” said Gentile. “Customers can get a wide range of prices for the same job when asking for estimates.”

Gentile said customers looking to hire a professional painter should always ask to see a certificate of insurance, which he said offers some assurance.

“It can help customers deal with painters who fall off a roof or break a window and decide to sue,” he said.

Gentile added Creative Painters offers quality painting services by painters who are insured.

“My customers tell me we do quality work, we are prompt and friendly and complete the work in a timely fashion,” he added.

Gentile also cautioned against selecting the lowest bid, as that can often bring poor results, and he suggested customers ask painters for a small list of previous jobs and when that work was done.

“Customers should always ask a painter for proof that he will do a good job,” he said.

Gentile also said customers should not be afraid to “play the seasons” and ask about scheduling jobs in the less busy times of the year to save money.
