FAIRLAWN — Wyant Woods Care Center is a skilled nursing center offering diversified levels of care, including short-term recovery and rehabilitation services and long-term care and programming.

Care at the facility includes skilled medical services, specialized care for various types of conditions and behavioral care.

The medical services include care for patients needing wound and cancer care, pain and diabetes management, and care for various heart problems and post-surgical recovery. Dental care, optometry and podiatry services, as well as hospice, respite and respiratory care, also are available, according to company officials.

The facility specializes in behavioral health services and is one of the few centers in the county to offer this alongside complex medical and rehabilitation services, according to Director of Admissions and Public Relations Suzanne Boyer.

Company officials state behavioral services available can help people with diagnoses of depression, schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar disorders, dementia, Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s disease.

“We assist those with behavioral impairments to help them maintain the highest quality of life possible, both clinically and psychosocially, in the safest and least restrictive environment,” Boyer said. “We have dedicated staff trained in effective intervention techniques and supported in behavioral care management.”

The facility offers two secured behavioral units and one secured Alzheimer’s unit, Boyer added.

In addition, Wyant Woods has a cardiac care program that helps to detect and prevent heart failure, according to Boyer.

Boyer said heart failure is the leading cause of hospital readmissions, with 50 percent of patients needing to be readmitted within six months. Wyant Woods offers the Cardiac 360 program to detect and help prevent heart failure, she added.

The program uses a bioimpedance device capable of precisely measuring cardiac output in patients up to 14 days prior to the onset of the first symptoms of heart failure.

Boyer said Wyant Woods’ professional staff includes nurses, physicians, therapists, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists from community providers that offer individualized behavioral treatment plans in both individual and group therapy sessions.

Boyer added the facility offers experienced help, and more than 90 employees have five to 20 years of experience working at the facility, with a total of 1,252 years of service.

Wyant Woods, located at 200 Wyant Road, also offers a variety of social programs for its patients and amenities that include private suites, satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and transportation services.
