House of Hunan has three locations serving authentic Asian dishes, including this one on West Market Street in Fairlawn Town Centre.

FAIRLAWN — Voted the best Chinese and sushi restaurant in town twice by an area poll, House of Hunan has three locations to serve patrons a taste of fine Asian cuisine.

The three restaurants — located at 12 E. Exchange St. in Downtown Akron, 2717 W. Market St. in Fairlawn Town Centre and 18 Public Square in Medina — each has its own special quality, according to House of Hunan General Manager Dustin Sun.

“What makes us unique is that we have one of the largest menus with special recipes passed on through the family, including Chinese, sushi and Thai dishes,” said Sun. “There is something for everyone, and we make everything from scratch — from our egg rolls and duck soup to our entrées such as our signature Three Cup Chicken and Miso Yaki (grilled sea bass).”

Sun added that House of Hunan recipes are traditional Asian dishes.

“We get hard-to-find vegetables for our traditional Asian dishes,” he said.

Sun explained all locations are family owned and run, and each location has its own unique style. The 10-year-old downtown site offers elegant dining. The 28-year-old Fairlawn restaurant is family oriented, with carryout service available. The four-year-old Medina site has a full-service bar and offers more of a “party” atmosphere, he said.

Sun stated House of Hunan was one of the first restaurants in the area to serve sushi and continues today with half-price Sushi specials on Monday nights in Fairlawn, Tuesday nights in Medina and Wednesday nights in Downtown Akron.

Each restaurant also has its own specials, he said.

In addition to in-house dining and carryout service at the Fairlawn site, House of Hunan offers catering service for home and office events.

House of Hunan hours are:

• Downtown Akron — Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m. and closed on Sundays, (330) 253-1888;

• Fairlawn — Mondays through Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m., (330) 864-8215; and

• Medina — Mondays through Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 11 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m., (330) 722-1899. The restaurant closes from 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
