The pub, which opened in Merriman Valley this past August, is owned by James House and Dan Yano. It is located in the former Double Olive, at 1282 Weathervane Lane in Liberty Commons.
According to Office Manager Michele Comeriato, 5,000 square feet was totally renovated and now offers a 60-seat bar, 30 high-definition TVs playing all the major sports channels, Keno and NTN Trivia games, pool and golf, bowling and bar-top games and darts.
Johnny J’s is open daily from 10 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Daily specials, including steak, tacos and wings, also are available. Breakfast fare is available all day, and other items such as homemade chili, specialty sandwiches and a wide variety of wings, with most meals priced less than $10, also are offered.
“Our breakfast menu is not extensive, but it is very good,” said Comeriato. “We are also known for our mile-high nachos and our steak dinners. We get a lot of compliments on our food, and we like to try new things, so we are always adding to the menu, with the most recent being a variety of desserts.”
In addition, Johnny J’s serves up one of the largest selections of draft and bottled beer, according to Comeriato.
“We have 32 draft beers to choose from and more than 100 varieties of bottled beer,” she said. “We offer happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m., with free homemade fries and discounts on alcohol beverages.”
Comeriato added the outside patio area will open soon.
The former Manchester Road JJ’s now is a Johnny J’s Pub & Grille and is located at 3333 Manchester Road in Coventry Township.
Johnny J’s Pub & Grill has been nominated for the 2010 Best Neighborhood Bar category in Fox 8’s Hot List. For more details, visit fox8.cityvoter.com/johnny-j-s-pub/biz/80611.
Johnny J’s is the fourth venture for House, according to Comeriato. House purchased The Dorm in 2003 and Bourbon Street in 2006, both also located in Liberty Commons in Merriman Valley, and the Manchester Road Johnny J’s in 2004.
The Dorm and Bourbon Street are bars that do not serve food and are open daily from 3 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. The Dorm attracts a younger crowd, and Bourbon Street, decorated in a Mardi Gras/New Orleans style, draws those in their late 20s and 30s, according to Comeriato.
