Granger trustees move forward with road work
As they have for the past several years, the Granger Township Board of Trustees received only one bid for the township’s annual planned road work, from Lytle Construction Co., of Wooster.
Trustees opened and approved Lytle’s bid at the April 23 meeting for motor-paving Meadow Oaks, Sweet Briar and Odesa drives and chip-and-sealing Stoll, Seymour and Huntley drives.
The estimate from the Medina County Engineer’s Office for the work was $133,732, while Lytle submitted a bid for $134,893, said Trustee Richard Pace.
“Where the estimates differ is Odesa — but it’s not much,” said Trustee Teri Berry.
Trustees also said they missed putting Aldo Drive, a 400-foot-long road that shoots off of Odesa Drive, on the bid documents, but will look into whether it can be added on or done as a separate project.
Also at the meeting, trustees:
• heard a proposal from Eagle Scout candidate Josh Kedzior to build and install two to four benches in Granger Park this summer;
• adopted a retroreflectivity policy for signs in the township to comply with federal laws, which matches the Ohio Department of Transportation’s policy. The plan will probably be phased in over the next couple of years, said Berry;
• said Medina County Commissioner Adam Friedrick has agreed to speak at the township’s Memorial Day activities. Also, trustees are seeking township residents who are veterans to participate in a Memorial Day honor guard. Those who are interested should call 330-239-3611;
• approved fully insuring all Fire Department vehicles for their replacement costs. Other vehicles owned by the township are already covered for their replacement costs, noted Fiscal Officer Barbara Beach; and
• changed their May meetings to accommodate trustees’ scheduling conflicts. While the board generally meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, both May meetings will occur on Tuesdays, and their first May meeting will begin later than usual. The meetings are scheduled for May 15 at 8:30 p.m. and May 29 at 4 p.m.
The next regular Granger trustees’ meeting is set for May 15 at 8:30 p.m. in the Administration Building, 3717 Ridge Road.
