Village gets spring cleaning
By Kathleen Folkerth
LAKEMORE — Volunteers stepped out in the village May 5 for the third annual Community Cleanup Day. Starting at Upper Water Works Park and working toward the village center, volunteers fanned out into the community to pick up trash along roads and in other public areas.
Pictured at right top, at left, is volunteer Laura Cochran, who holds a trash bag open for Alexis Foy, 6, who helped gather trash along Sanitarium Road. Char Beamer does her part, as at right bottom, as she picks up a beer can. Shown at left, at left, is John Fockler, 15, as he works along Sanitarium Road.

According to Tracy Fast, assistant to the village administrator, about 12 adults and 10 children volunteered for the morning, several of them representing local Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops. Residents and members of Lakemore Village Council also helped, she added. The group collected about 15 bags of trash, she said, and enjoyed a lunch of hot dogs, chips and drinks afterward.
The effort had originally been scheduled for April 21 but was moved because of inclement weather, village officials said.
