WEST POINT, N.Y. — Second Lt. Daniel Borchik, shown at left in the photo at right, is shown as he receives the official Oath of Office from his brother, 1st Lt. Jason Borchik, after graduation ceremonies May 26 at West Point, the U.S. Military Academy. Their parents are Jim and Linda Borchik, of Copley.

According to Jim Borchik, Jason is a 2006 Copley High School (CHS) graduate who graduated from West Point in 2010, and Daniel is a 2008 CHS graduate.

Jim Borchik said that following graduation ceremonies, each West Point graduate takes an oath and becomes an officer in the U.S. Army.

West Point officials said Daniel Borchik studied mechanical engineering and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Army Aviation branch. He reported to Fort Rucker, in Alabama, for his first assignment.

Officials added that the U.S. Military Academy’s mission is to educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor and country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the U.S. Army.
