GREEN — Summa Health System and community officials gathered July 2 for an open house and ribbon-cutting for the new Summa Emergency Department (ED) in Green. The ED will be ready for patients starting July 9 at 7 a.m., according to Summa officials.

Dr. Michelle Blanda, chair of Summa’s Department of Emergency Medicine, is pictured at left as she prepares to help cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Shown at right middle are CT technicians Debbie Burgess, at left, and Tia Steffen, at right, as they talk to Canal Fulton resident Jack DeLong during tours of the new facility.

Staff and visitors are shown at right middle as they check out the new ED’s rooms.

The exterior of the ED, which is located at Heritage Crossings, 1825 Franks Parkway, is pictured at right bottom.

Summa officials said the ED will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board-certified emergency physicians and other personnel trained for both adult and pediatric emergencies. The $17 million ED will include bedside registration, which allows family members to accompany patients as much as possible during the care process.

The ED also is equipped with bedside ultrasound imaging, dedicated laboratory and radiology departments and occupational health services, which officials said will open Aug. 13.
