GREEN — The new LifeStyles Health and Wellness Center is open for business.

The 100,000 square-foot facility is the third Akron General Medical Center (AGMC) exercise and wellness center to open in Summit County, according to AGMC officials, following centers in Montrose and Stow. It opened July 9 at 1940 Town Park Blvd. and was the site of an open house July 21.

During the open house, visitors had the chance to learn more about LifeStyles and AGMC’s new Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy and Sports Performance programs in Green.

The center’s four pools were also open and visitors had the chance to work out on the center’s new state-of-the-art exercise equipment as well as receive free health screenings.

Through July 31, special pricing is available for new members, who can receive a 45 percent discount off the center’s enrollment fee. For more information, call 330-896-5000 or visit the membership office at LifeStyles.

AGMC officials said the center’s opening complements the Green campus’ Emergency Department (ED), which opened in March. AGMC also offers radiology and lab services at the site.

So far, AGMC officials said the new site has been busy, with the ED averaging 40 visits a day, exceeding projections.

In the future, a new three-story medical office building and critical care helipad are planned for the Green site, according to AGMC officials.

When that is completed, it’s expected that the AGMC Green campus will employ 250 people.

Hospital officials added they also plan to add a conference center that will seat about 200 people and can be used for community events.

For more information, call 330-896-5000 or go to www.agmc.org.
