Sweet summer fun in Medina County

MEDINA — The Medina County Fair kicked off a week of activities July 30 at the fairgrounds, 710 W. Smith Road. On opening day, sweet treats like the candied apples shown at top right were ready for fair visitors, some of whom are shown below top left.
Competitions for the best in a variety of categories also got under way. Ken Hazard, of Medina, is pictured at right bottom as he evaluates a honey entry.

The fair, which ends Aug. 5, also features rides like the Ferris wheel shown at left bottom.
