SPRINGFIELD — A Mogadore woman has been charged in the hit-skip death of a Springfield teen last month.

Dianna Vandyne, 46, was arrested July 26 and arraigned the next day in Akron Municipal Court, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), which investigated the July 17 incident that claimed the life of Anthony Weakland, 16.

Troopers reported Vandyne was stopped on Trares Road in Portage County and arrested on a warrant issued by Akron Municipal Court. She was arrested on charges of felony hit-skip and tampering with evidence, according to the OSHP.

According to court records, bond was set at $100,000 and had not been made as of Aug. 1. Vandyne was being held in the Summit County Jail. A status hearing is set for Aug. 10, according to court records.

Authorities said Weakland was hit around 9:30 p.m. by a vehicle that was traveling east on Albrecht Avenue just east of Taylor Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to court records, Vandyne has been charged in the past with a variety of offenses, such as drug abuse, open container and obstructing official business.
