Also happy to be a part of the festivities was Nell Orndorf, of the Native American Veteran’s Center, who is pictured at left as she carries a torch.
Youths like Daniel Restaneo, 8, of Pittsburgh, who was visiting the area, enjoyed the parade thanks to candy treats being handed out by Kelsee McKee, who is shown at right middle.
Dozens of community groups took part in the event with floats and marchers, such as the Islamic Community Center, whose members are pictured at right bottom.
The 10-day celebration of the city’s bicentennial wrapped up with a closing ceremony Aug. 12 at Falls River Square. Local residents enjoyed community picnics, concerts and the opening of a time capsule throughout the bicentennial celebration.
