RICHFIELD — Summertime favorites like sweet corn were enjoyed during Richfield Community Day events Aug. 12. Natalie Lisowski, 4, of North Olmsted, is shown at left bottom enjoying a roasted cob at the event. Her father, John Lisowski, was raised in Richfield and said the family returns each year for the festival. He added Natalie would rather eat corn on the cob than treats like ice cream.

That was the selection of choice for Wilda and Dale Scarbrough, of Richfield, who have been married for more than 50 years. The couple, pictured at right top, said they’ve lived in Richfield for 43 years.

Also during the event, which took place at Richfield Woods Park, Aiden Doyle, 6, of Richfield, learned how to fire a Black Powder rifle with the help of Officer Rob Gaydosh, of the Richfield Police Department, as shown at right bottom.

In addition to food and entertainment, attendees enjoyed contests such as Hot Wheels racing, sponsored by Richfield Cub Scout Pack No. 3387. Shown at left top, from left, during the heated competition are Anthony Romesburg, 9, of Richfield; winner Jack Morris, 7, of Richfield; Nathan Claus, 7, of Bath; Mike Claus, of Bath, who served as finish line judge; and Kelsey Weir, 11, of Richfield, who also served as a judge.

The evening concluded with a fireworks show. Residents also enjoyed the annual parade Aug. 10 and the Steak Fry Aug. 11.
