Bath residents, businesses can recycle electronics Oct. 6
Bath residents are invited to recycle “anything with a power cord” at the township’s Oct. 6 Community Electronics Recycle Day.
Bath Township Administrator William Snow, at a brief Sept. 17 Bath Township Board of Trustees meeting, said the Electronics Recycle Day is an opportunity for Bath residents and businesses to safely dispose of unwanted electronic devices, such as working or nonworking cell phones, and other electronic devices, including computers, printers, gaming systems and working small appliances. Appliances containing Freon will not be accepted, he said.
Goodwill Industries will collect the items and may either resell working items or recycle them through a partnership with Dell Reconnect, he added. At a previous meeting, Snow said there is no charge to residents for the service.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Bath Elementary School, located at the corner of Bath and North Cleveland-Massillon roads, across from the Bath Township Administration Building. Snow thanked Bath resident Rachael Post for coordinating the event.
In other news, trustees said they continue to conduct interviews with the six candidates for the position of township administrator. Trustees have set several special meetings to allow trustees to go into executive session for the interviews and discuss personnel issues. Trustees said they occasionally will act on other agenda items, and the public is welcome to attend all meetings, although executive sessions are closed.
At the end of the meeting, trustees told representatives of the Citizens for Bath Seniors they would have a response at the next regular meeting to the group’s request for assistance from the township in creating a dedicated senior center.
In other action, the board:
• approved requisitions and purchase orders totaling $154,049;
• approved a resolution to amend the 2012 certificate of estimated resources to include a $3,000 emergency medical services training and equipment grant;
• approved payment of $136,396 to Liberta Construction Co. Inc. for concrete pavement repair through the Summit County Engineer’s Office’s cooperative program;
• approved final payment of $5,568 to Synergy LLC for a boiler replacement; and
• accepted resignations of part-time police officers Michael Zorena, effective Sept. 30, and Kevin Hylbert, effective Nov. 30.
During a special Sept. 11 meeting, trustees agreed to post an opening for a full-time firefighter to fill a position to be vacated by the resignation of Lt. Kevin Hylbert, effective Oct. 31, according to draft meeting minutes provided by Fiscal Officer Sharon Troike.
Calendar items include:
√ Sept. 22: Ira Cemetery historical marker commemoration and tour at 11 a.m. [for more on that, see Page 1];
√ Sept. 27: Probate deed review meeting with Summit County Probate Court Judge Todd McKenney at Bath Elementary School at 6 p.m. [see related Area news item on Page 5]; and

The trustees’ next meeting is set for Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the trustees’ meeting room on the lower level of the Bath Administration Building, located at 3864 W. Bath Road.
