SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Police Department presented the first of two Fill-A-Cruiser events Nov. 23 at the South Arlington Road Wal-Mart. The effort collects toys and monetary donations to help local families in need during the holidays.

Shown at left is Springfield Police Officer Dawson Wise lifting Alyssa Khuenle as she tosses some coins into a collection container.

He is also pictured at right top accepting a donation from Crystal King, who was visiting Akron from Cincinnati.

Springfield Volunteer Auxiliary Police Officer Gloria Suzuki is shown at right bottom, at left, accepting toys from Springfield resident Rodney Bowen.

Another Fill-A-Cruiser event took place Nov. 24 at the Canton Road Speedway gas station.

According to Springfield Police Officer Perry Linaburg, collections this year were “down a bit from last year due to the bad weather.”
