Awards presented at annual luncheon

WEST AKRON — Summit County Chapters of the National Societies of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) gathered at the Akron Woman’s City Club for the annual Community Awards luncheon April 6.

According to Akron Chapter DAR officials, award winners included the following:

  • Revere High School senior Kelsey Bonacci won the DAR Christopher Columbus Essay Award;
  • Barbara Griffith, an officer in local, state and national levels of the NSDAR, NSSAR and National Society of the Children of the American Revolution (NSCAR), won the SAR Bronze Good Citizen Award;
  • Archbishop Hoban High School senior Kaitlyn Stepanek won the DAR Good Citizen Award and was chosen as the Northeast Ohio District winner of the DAR Good Citizen Award;
  • Charlotte Marky received the DAR Americanism Award; and
  • Laura Williams Dunlop won the DAR Service for Veterans Award.
