COVENTRY — Visitors turned out to hear the Akron Pops Orchestra tuned up for the group’s Pops ’N More concert June 20 at the Metro Parks, Serving Summit County Coventry Oaks Pavilion, shown above.

As participants enjoyed the music, they also got to meet the park system’s mascot, Cheeks the Chipmunk, shown at right top.

The crowd also got a sweet treat as Metro Parks volunteers, including 92-year-old Bert Szabo, shown at right bottom, passed out popsicles. Szabo is a former chief naturalist for the park system, having worked there from 1957 through 1991. He also was involved in starting Metro Parks’ F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm in Akron.
