PENINSULA — Several Green Fire Department fire medics participated in a training session Aug. 13-15 behind the Valley Fire District station that included a technical rope rescue system called a high line.

According to Green Fire officials, a rope line is placed over a drop off in order to practice extricating an individual from the bottom more efficiently and with less movement. A photo of the practice session is shown at right.

The training was for the Summit County Technical Rescue Operations Team and The Ohio Region 5 Urban Search and Rescue Team. Several Green Fire Department fire medics are on both teams. They include: Capt. Doug Cincurak, who served as a lead instructor, and fire medics Matt Craddock, Jason Marzilli, Rob Messner, Justin Pratt, Mike Pratt and Jason Wells.
