ABF awards grants to nonprofits

AKRON — The Akron Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Akron Bar Association, has issued the following grants to qualified nonprofits:

  • Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties, for Summit County Advocacy Program, $2,500;
  • Bondage Breakers Inc., for services to individuals and families who have experienced a legal crisis, $8,000;
  • CASA/GAL of Summit County, for Guardian ad Litem training, $3,000;
  • Community Legal Aid, to legal interns, $5,000;
  • Law & Leadership, for assistance preparing students from under-served communities for post-secondary and professional success, $3,000;
  • Rape Crisis Center, for its Summit County Advocacy Program, $3,000;
  • Victim Assistance Program, for support of their Quality of Justice Enhancement Program, $5,000;
  • Summit County Historical Society, to update a display of the Summit County Courthouse at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, $3,000; and
  • Mental Health America of Summit County, for a program to provide equal justice for children with severe behavioral and emotional disorders, $5,000.
