The Springfield Board of Trustees approved a number of items at a special meeting Nov. 6.

The items included:

  • issuing requests for qualifications and proposals from licensed surveyors for three parcels of land owned by Ohio Edison Co., with a bid meeting set for Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. and bid opening set for Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. at the Town Hall, 2459 Canfield Road. For a copy of the bid package details, visit the Zoning Office at the Town Hall or email zoner@neo.rr.com;
  • approving an amendment to a previous motion to reflect the actual cost of the purchase of a fire hose, in the amount of $4,850 instead of $4,794;
  • accepting bids from the Summit County Engineer’s Office for the 2013 Pavement Maintenance Program, with compensation of about $193,210 due to Lytle Construction and up to $1,500 to J.D. Striping;
  • approving to apply for a State Capital Budget funding grant for 2015-16 through the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce; and
  • approving to use Speedy Rewards credits to be used for gas purchases for township departments, subject to further orders by the trustees.

Trustees also held a special meeting Nov. 13 to establish a position in the Parks and Recreation Department and to consider employment of public employees, and also to consider any other matters. Details of that meeting will be included in the report from the trustees’ regular meeting of Nov. 14 in next week’s edition.
