GREEN — Mayor Dick Norton swore in Jeffrey Funai as the new fire chief for the city of Green Dec. 17 at the Central Administration Building. Funai is shown above with his wife, Lori.

Funai began his tenure with the Green Fire Division in 1995, after serving as a part-time firefighter/EMT and dispatcher for Coventry Township, and had been serving as a captain since 2011, according to city officials. The appointment was made effective Nov. 25.

Funai is a 1987 Green High School graduate and earned a bachelor of science degree in management and a master’s of business administration from Malone University. He is now enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer Program with the National Fire Academy of Emmitsburg, Md.

Funai succeeds longtime Chief Robert Calderone, who retired in March.
