AKRON — The Akron Bar Association (ABA) recently announced it has raised $2,969 through its Law Week events in May, with proceeds going to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. A check was presented by Ann Marie O’Brien, president of the ABA, to Dan Flowers, executive director of the Foodbank, as shown above.

The funds were raised from Law Week events, including Race Judicata and Jammin’ for Justice, both held May 2. The contribution was proceeds from event sponsorship and ticket sales.

C. Allen Nichols, executive director of the ABA, stated, “The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank provides a much needed service in our community. The Akron Bar Association members realized that need and came forward to help by supporting Law Week events to benefit the Foodbank.”

The Foodbank also was the recipient of the ABA’s Public Service Award. The award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made a significant contribution to the community through outstanding public service.
