SPRINGFIELD — Roosevelt Elementary School students in kindergarten through third grade moved into the spruced up Spring Hill Elementary School this year, and Roosevelt, which is the district’s oldest building, was closed. Students from Spring Hill, which had housed seventh- and eighth-graders, moved into a new building in January.

Spring Hill students returning to school Aug. 27 were greeted with a new playground, shown below. Pictured above enjoying the new swings Aug. 25 are Kayla Brown, 8, and her 4-year-old brother, Dylan.

According to district Business Manager Dan Laskos, the playground was paid for in part by a donation of $4,500 from the Spring Hill parents’ group.
