RICHFIELD — Great Trail Council Boy Scouts of America Venturing Crew 2335 completed a rock armoring project and removed a fallen beech tree along the Buckeye Trail at the Richfield Heritage Preserve. The crew, shown above, includes crew members Taylor Waibel, Alyssa Horacek, Serena Naizer, Andy McMaster, Drew Gardner, Annika Love, Sophia Schweitzer, Grace Bazan, John Naizer Jr. and Alex Sube, as well as adults Karla Love and John and Christine Naizer.

The group worked using a pulley system to haul the cut-up tree from the creekbed. Removing debris and logjams also revealed a Berea sandstone rock ledge.

Anyone interested in a project at the site may contact the Richfield Joint Recreation District at rjrd.org.

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women providing positive experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.
