Pattersons celebrate 70 years together

George and Marie (Swartz) Patterson were married Oct. 1, 1939, in Lakemore, Ohio.

George, 90, moved to the village at age 5, and Marie, 89, was born and raised in Lakemore. They both attended Springfield Schools.
George served in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1945 and then worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., retiring after 39 years. Marie worked as a cook and then as a secretary. She retired after 26 years.
The couple are the parents of son Donald (deceased) and daughters Bonnie Newman and Judy Coble, and have six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration dinner with family to mark their 70th wedding anniversary is planned for Oct. 4.
