Springfield Local Schools accepts coach’s resignation

LAKEMORE — The Springfield Local School District Board of Education accepted the resignation of Springfield High School head boys basketball coach Jack Morgan at a special meeting April 24.

According to Superintendent Bill Stauffer, Morgan has served as coach for five years and resigned to spend more time with his family. Stauffer said a replacement for Morgan has not yet been selected, and the district plans to conduct a search for a new coach.

The board adjourned into executive session to discuss negotiations and personnel matters.

The next regular meeting will take place May 15 at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building, 2960 Sanitarium Road.

Kaderly Classic Golf Outing to benefit scholarship fund

GREEN — The Kaderly family will present the first annual Kaderly Classic Golf Outing Aug. 4 at Raintree Country Club, 4350 Mayfair Road in Green.

The event is a memorial fundraiser in honor of Richard Kaderly, 58, who died of a heart attack this past October. According to his obituary, Kaderly served on the Manchester Local Schools Board of Education for two decades. He was appointed to New Franklin City Council in January 2011. Kaderly was campaigning to retain his seat when he died. Kaderly also coached youth football for 40 years.

Organized by the Kaderly family, the event will benefit the Richard J. Kaderly Scholarship Fund, which was established shortly after his death to benefit Manchester High School students, according to event organizers.

The golfing event will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start in a four-person scramble.

Lunch will be available before golfing begins, and a barbecue buffet will be offered afterward. The golf fundraiser includes hole contests, skins game, a prize raffle and a 50/50 raffle.

The cost to participate is $85 per golfer, which includes the meals. Hole sponsorships are available, and prize donations are being accepted.
