WEST AKRON — Towpath Trail High School officials and students gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new school Sept. 4. The school began operations Aug. 1 and currently has 140 students enrolled.

Shown at right, from left, participating in the ceremony are: student Javonte’ Solomon, Enrollment Specialist Crystal Scott, Administrator John Stack cutting the ribbon, Vocational Specialist Robert Garnett and student Rocio Valles.

According to its website, towpathtrailhigh.org/School.aspx, Towpath Trail is a nontraditional high school serving students in grades nine through 12. These students may have fallen behind in earning credits, have difficulty in passing state required tests, be at risk of dropping out of school or just need a new environment in which they can succeed.

Enrollment at Towpath Trail High School is continuing and may be done by visiting the school at 275 W. Market St., calling 234-542-0102 or visiting the website.
