Revere paper earns top rating

KENT — Sixteen students from Revere High School in Bath participated in the Ohio Scholastic Media Association’s seventh statewide annual convention at Kent State University’s Franklin Hall April 4-5.

Lantern, Revere High School’s newspaper, earned an overall rating of first place.

The event brought about 375 high school journalism students and their advisers for learning sessions about journalism and digital media. Newsroom and classroom professionals from the Northeast Ohio area and Pennsylvania and Indiana presented more than 60 seminars to help attendees improve their publication by enhancing their multimedia, design and writing skills.

Revere High School students earned 23 individual awards in various writing, editing and design categories. Individual award winners include Carl Ahlborg, Aria Alexander, Grace Berry, Jenna Cross, Beth Gillette, Ayesha Krovi, Cole McKee, Malorie Newingham, Julia Randall, Ben Sustersic, Sam Sustersic, Madison Umina, Lauren Weidinger and Jacob Zimmerman.
