Revere sets timeline for superintendent search
BATH/RICHFIELD — The Revere Local Schools Board of Education announced a few more details regarding the district’s search for a new superintendent.
Finding Leaders, an independent agency retained by the board to assist with the search, facilitated a focus group meeting Nov. 13 as part of an effort to determine what characteristics community members are looking for in a superintendent. According to David Forrest, Revere’s treasurer and chief financial officer, more than 60 people attended.
Forrest said the district is “very appreciative of our community members and students [for] giving freely of their time to work with us in the search.” Additional focus groups took place Nov. 17. Forrest said the district hopes to get input from more than 100 community members during this stage of the search.
In early December, the board will meet to review the results of the focus groups as compiled by Finding Leaders. The application deadline is Feb. 10. Finding Leaders plans to screen applicants by Feb. 13. The school board will conduct interviews and make a final decision by March 20.
Revere’s previous superintendent, Elisabeth McNicholas, left the post in August to become principal of Rittman Elementary School in Wayne County. The board appointed Kathy Bearer, former assistant principal at Revere High School, as interim superintendent for this year. Bearer said she plans to apply for the job.
The next regular board meeting will be Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at the board’s Administrative Office, 3496 Everett Road.
