Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America

 

BARBERTON — The Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech will take place Aug. 25 at the Barberton Sports Complex, 841 Wooster Road West. Norton resident Diana Schenkenberger, and her son Jack Schenkenberger, who has Apraxia, will be on hand to help bring awareness to the motor speech disorder as well as raise funds to benefit the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA), according to event officials. Registration and check-in will begin at 9 a.m. with the walk to start at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K run to start at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in participating should contact Diana Schenkenberger at akron apraxiawalk@gmail.com. The Kimberly Walton Foundation

 

BRECKSVILLE — The Kimberly Walton Foundation will hold its second annual Believe in Hope Fun Run and Family Walk Sept. 16 to raise funds to provide assistance to patients and their families suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma and/or leukemia. The 501(c)(3) foundation intends to help families in need with pet care, child services, salon services, meal gift cards, money for prescriptions or other medical costs and other basic necessities, according to foundation officials. The 8K Fun Run and 4K Family Walk will follow a course through the Brecksville Reservation located in the Cleveland Metroparks. Both events will begin and end at the Oak Grove Picnic Area pavilion located off Valley Parkway between Chippewa Creek and Meadows drives. Parking is available at the pavilion. Race-day registration will take place at 9 a.m. at the pavilion, and the 8K will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the 4K at 10:15. Starting at 11:30 a.m., a celebration with family and friends will be held, which will include a raffle and silent auction. Registration from Aug. 2 through race day will be $30 for the 8K and $25 for the 4K. All paid participants will receive a T-shirt, subject to availability.
