SOUTH AKRON — Donzell’s Fall Festival, 937 E. Waterloo Road, will usher in the season with a variety of activities Sept. 22-23.

The 12th annual family event will accept donations to benefit One of a Kind Pet Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving animals, rescuing pets in imminent danger of euthanasia, spaying/neutering and adoption of homeless animals, according to Donzell’s officials.

The event will offer Halloween displays and fall decorating ideas, as well as the following:

• Wine Tasting, Sept. 22 from noon to 4 p.m., with “wicked” wine samples such as Vampire Cabernet and Dracula Zinfandel;

• a Game Tent, with prizes for winning at Ring Toss, Skee Ball, Balloon Bust and other games;

• Hayrides around Donzell’s grounds to see what goes on behind the scenes, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.;

• Pony rides, both days from noon to 3 p.m.;

• Pumpkin personalization, with staff artists making distinctive pumpkins for customers;

• Scarecrow Contest, offering an opportunity to win Donzell’s gift certificates;

• Operation Orphan Wildlife Rescue, both days from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Fran Kitchen and rescued backyard animals; and

• Festival food, such as barbecue chicken dinners, roasted corn, Whitey’s chili, hot dogs, cider, doughnuts, caramel apples and more.
