Library event kicks off pumpkin season

WEST AKRON — Autumn began Sept. 22, and several local children found no better way to celebrate the day than a pumpkin-carving event at the Maple Valley Branch of the Akron-Summit County Public Library.

Dominic Colaco, 2, is pictured at right top as he applies the colorful finishing touches to his painted jack o’lantern.

Sisters Morgan Williams, at left, and Madison Williams, both 9, worked together to create their pumpkin, as shown at right bottom.

Halloween-themed events, such as parties and craft classes, will take place at many other library branches this season. For details, go to www.ascpl.org.
