WEST AKRON — Fall festival Ohio Mart brought many to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens Oct. 4-7 for a chance to shop and soak up the splendor of the estate’s grounds in fall. Tents at the site, as shown at far right top, were filled with items made by artisans and crafters such as sculpture, knits, holiday décor and gourmet food items.

Among the shoppers on Oct. 6 were Pam Tegrotenhuis, of Shaker Heights, who is shown at left bottom as she assists her mother, Janis Borkowski, of Cuyahoga Falls, in picking out one of the garden art sculptures from exhibitor Sisters Sediments.

Norton resident Jane Judge and granddaughter Isabella Judge, of Akron, also spent some time at the event and enjoyed looking through some artwork, as shown at right middle

The family-friendly event also featured children’s activities. Amelia Gippin, of West Akron, is pictured at left top with two of the St. Bernard dogs that were part of the Children’s Corner, which also included face painting and other activities. Organizers said the Seiberlings, who lived at Stan Hywet, at one time had a St. Bernard dog named Joe.

This year’s Ohio Mart, which was the 46th year for the event, was chaired by West Akron resident Fran Silvis, who is shown at right bottom, and vice chair Elise Bennett.
