STEM school students win chess championship

DOWNTOWN AKRON — Students from Akron Public Schools’ National Inventors Hall of Fame® School ... Center for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Learning won the state championship for middle schools in the Divisional State Chess Championships.

According to district officials, this is the school’s second state championship in two years.

The students competed in the reserve division, according to district officials, and are expected to compete in the Grade School Divisional State title match next month in Columbus.
