Brodyn’s Friends Foundation
COPLEY — Chick-fil-a and the Brodyn’s Friends Foundation will host a Fundraiser Event today, May 2, to commemorate NKH Awareness Day. Based on sales at Chick-fil-a Montrose, located at 47 Memorial Flight Parkway, that day, a donation will be made to Brodyn’s Friends Foundation. From 5 to 8 p.m., Brodyn’s Friends will be on-site to host games for prizes. There also will be live music by John Toula and face painting for children. Brodyn’s Friends is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that gives people the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and families affected with NonKetotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH). National Federation of the Blind
BARBERTON — On May 4, the local branch of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will host a fundraiser at The Fast Lane, 193 Wooster Road N. The event will help raise funds and awareness about the blind and the organization. Individuals can bowl between noon and 3 p.m. There will be raffles and a 50/50 contest, as well. Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank
FAIRLAWN — The Akron Area Interfaith Council (AAIC) will host a Hunger Walk May 5. The 2-1/2-mile walk will take place at 3 p.m., starting and finishing at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Akron, 3300 Morewood Road. Registration will be at 2 p.m., and the walk will be followed by a Hot Soup Social featuring soups by Unitarian Universalist, Hindu and Muslim chefs. This is the fourth annual Hunger Walk, with all donations going to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank (all walk expenses are paid by the Interfaith Council). American Cancer Society
RICHFIELD — The next American Cancer Society Revere Relay For Life Night at Musketeers Bar & Grill, 3027 Brecksville Road, will take place May 9 from 4 to 9 p.m. A percentage of the evening’s profits will be donated to the Relay. The Revere Relay also will host a special buffet dinner fundraiser at Musketeers Bar & Grill May 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. The “all you can eat” buffet will include appetizers, salad, spaghetti, pizza and beverages. There also will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. The cost is $25 per person (a percentage of which will be donated to the Revere Relay). ACCESS Homeless Shelter
DOWNTOWN AKRON — ACCESS Homeless Shelter’s Kick Up Your Heels 5K will take place May 11 at Lock 3 Park, 200 S. Main St. It will include a Stiletto Sprint, a 1 Mile Walk and a 5K Run. Registration will open at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Stiletto Sprint at 8:30 a.m., the 5K at 9 a.m. and the walk at 9:10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit ACCESS, a homeless shelter for women and children, according to organizers.
