Taste of Green offering something for everyone
GREEN — Chocolate, wine tastings, live music and children’s activities await visitors to the inaugural Taste of Green Festival May 25-27 along Town Park Boulevard and at the Green High School Memorial Stadium.
The three-day lifestyle event, to benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, the Green Schools Foundation and Friends of Green Parks, is being produced by Connecting For A Cause and presented by the city of Green, with Akron General serving as the premier sponsor, according to event officials.
“Taste of Green offers a free fun-filled weekend and is a great complement to the annual Memorial Day activities in the community,” said Connecting For a Cause President Debra Sherman. “With so many great food selections, the Legends Wine and Beer Garden and all of the children’s activities in the YMCA Kids Corner, there is something for all ages all weekend long.”

Restaurant tents will be set up in the Portage Lakes Career Center Culinary Court, and dining cards will be available for purchase with preloaded amounts. The cost of sample-sized portions ranges from $2 to $6.
The festival also will offer adult beverages, including craft beers provided by Yuengling and Stella Artois and wines served by the Heidelberg Distributing Co. Glasses or tastes will be available to guests 21 and older with valid identification and a designated wristband. Beverage tickets will be available for purchase on-site.
The Taste of Green also will present a wide variety of live music on the Legends Stage, the Buford T. Hedgehog Stage and the Enviroscapes Stage all three days from noon until evening.
Some of the bands set to perform include: WANTED, a Bon Jovi tribute band, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. on the Legends stage; Memphis Cradle May 26 at 1:30 p.m. on the Hedgehog Stage; Ryan Humbert May 26 at 6 p.m. on the Hedgehog stage; and Zydeco Kings May 27 at 3 p.m. on the Enviroscapes Stage.
