OHIO — The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society will host two cycling events this summer. The inaugural Bike MS Central Ohio Challenge is set for July 20, and the Bike MS Pedal to the Point Ride presented by Medical Mutual will take place Aug. 3-4. For the Bike MS Central Ohio Challenge, cyclists will begin their journey at New Albany High School, 7600 Fodor Road. Route options include a 50-mile and a 95-mile ride that will be fully supported with rest stops along the way. Registration is $25, and riders are responsible for meeting a $150 fundraising minimum. The deadline to register is July 14. The Bike MS Pedal to the Point Ride will begin at Brunswick High School, 3581 Center Road, Aug. 3. There are route options of 30, 75, 100 and 150 miles, so riders of any age (12 and older), experience and ability level can register to ride. The route is fully supported with rest stops every 8-12 miles. Registration is $75, and riders are responsible for meeting a $300 fundraising minimum. First-time riders are encouraged to sign up and receive free registration with the coupon code NEWRIDER2013. The deadline to register is July 28. The goal of Bike MS is to raise $1.5 million to fund programs and services for people with MS and to fund research efforts to find the cause and a cure for the chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system, according to organizers. Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Northeast Ohio
SOUTH AKRON — The Cliffside Key Club will present the Second Annual Tunnel of Thunder “Roarin for a Cure” event, in support of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Northeast Ohio, July 28. The race will start at the Firestone Stadium and end at Firestone Country Club. Motorcycles will line up by 8 a.m. in front of Cliffside Key Club, 2118 S. Main St., to rev up their engines as the runners pass, creating a “Tunnel of Thunder.” Participants are asked to “pink up” their bikes. Shirts will be available for purchase prior to the event.
