Bike Kitchen at Lock 3 Park
DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Summit Cycling Center will host its Third Annual Bicycle Poker Run Aug. 24. The ride begins and ends at Lock 3 Park, 200 S. Main St. Check in is at 9:30 a.m., and the ride will roll out at 10 a.m. The route will go to seven stops, where riders will draw cards. According to organizers, this is a slow, fun, social ride with plenty of time to visit at stops; it is partially on city streets and partially on the Towpath. Registration is $25. Proceeds after prizes, food and drink will benefit the Bike Kitchen at Lock 3 Park. At ride’s end, cyclists can discard up to four cards and draw again, at $1 per card. Food and drink will be available after the ride while judges decide who has the highest hand. Prizes will be awarded. Send checks to Summit Cycling Center, 530 S. Stewart’s Caring Place, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
CUYAHOGA FALLS — The fourth annual Bikers for Boobs of Akron Ridin’ & Stridin’ Poker Run is set for Sept. 8 (rain or shine). The event will begin at Rubber City Harley-Davidson, 1120 Main St. A free breakfast of French toast and sausage will be provided from 9 to 11 a.m. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon, and the first bike out will be at 10 a.m., with the last bike out at noon and the last bike in at 4 p.m. Dinner, from 3 to 5 p.m., will be provided by Legends Sports Pub & Grille in Green, where the run ends. All motorcycles are welcome. The cost is $20 for drivers and $10 for passengers. Preregistration runs through Sept. 1. The first 100 preregistered drivers will receive a free T-shirt. Preregistered passengers can pay $10 for a T-shirt, and all T-shirts will cost $15 for participants and $20 for nonparticipants and walk-ins after the first 100. All net proceeds will go toward Stewart’s Caring Place in Fairlawn and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event.
