SUMMIT COUNTY — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County is recruiting volunteers to help visitors. All volunteers must pass a criminal background check. For information, contact Della Day, manager of volunteer programs, at 330-865-8047 or dday@summitmetroparks.org. The following opportunities are available:

√ Animal Care — Volunteers assist with caring for display animals at F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm (1828 Smith Road in West Akron).

√ Animal Exhibit Guides — Help is needed with providing visitors information about display animals at the Nature Realm.

√ Bike Patrol — Volunteers, on their own bikes, educate users and provide assistance on more than 60 miles of multipurpose trails. Individuals must become volunteers by April 1. CPR and first-aid certification are required.

√ Event Reps — Volunteers help with community events and parades.

√ Program Aides — Help is needed with naturalist-led camping, backpacking and youth fishing programs.

√ School Group Guides — Ages 18 and older can assist with guided walks at the Nature Realm, weekdays in spring and fall during normal school hours.

√ Stream Surveys — Volunteers monitor water quality by identifying and recording macro-invertebrates.
